Coast Led Lenser X7 Review

The Coast Led Lenser X7 lights up the most dangerous situations with a total of 7 super-bright LEDs that throw a powerful and focused beam conventional flashlights just can’t compare to. Heavy-duty, professional diodes offer a lifespan years longer than old-fashioned bulbs—they last up to 50,000 operating hours.

I bought this for $279.99 over @ Amazon.com and I couldn’t believe I was dropping nearly $300 on a flashlight. However, I haven’t regretted it for a second. It’s just breathtakingly amazing. When I use it outside at night it’s like the sun came up because it can light a quarter of an acre in sunshine. It’s so powerful that the beam is actually visible in the air when you point it up—it’s like a searchlight.

I still don’t know how long the batteries will last since I’m still on my first set. I use it on High Power most of the time, but the low power is okay for general lighting in small areas. The high power will amaze your friends, even passing aircraft for sure. The is the most expensive, but certainly the best flashlight I’ve ever owned.

The X7 is rated at 1068 lumens, 16.36 maximum wattage, an effective range of 1,765 feet and 125 hours battery life from 4 D batteries.

Review

This is an amazingly bright, amazingly compact flashlight. It fits neatly on a keychain, and while the lowest brightness is plenty for most situations, the higher levels are there when you need them. It’s not cheap, but I don’t know of any light that’s anywhere near this bright and versatile for the price.

The P2D uses a Cree LED, so it is extremely bright for the size with very good balance between throw and side spill. The hotspot is very strong and the spill is really usable. As in other Cree lights, the beam has some artifacts and will not be very pure against a white wall but that causes no problems to use the flashlight.

The light has two modes of operation depending on the position of the bezel. In each mode of operation you can access different sub modes using the reverse switch. With the bezel in the first position you turn on the light in “turbo” mode, a light tap in the switch then moves to the strobe. With the bezel in the second position the light is turned on in minimum brightness, the you move to medium, maximum and finally SOS mode clicking the switch.

The P2D is constructed in HA-III aluminum, it is very strong and will resist drops scratches and impacts. The run time is about 1 hour in “turbo” mode, up to 30 hours in “low,” 2 hours in “max” and about 5 hours in medium brightness. The strobe’s frequency is good enough to disorient people. The P2D can stand on its tail and be used for room illumination.
